The cobalt blue lakes invite you to the Gokyo valley which after a 3 hour hike takes you to the Gokyo village at the foot of the Gokyo Ri (18,300 ft) which is a huge black mound of rock and dirt. This trek gives the opportunity to indulge in the life of the Sherpa people and their warm hospitality while capturing the astounding views of the lakes, glaciers and spiritual feel of the monasteries. The highlight of the trek is a 3 hour long hike up to the highest vantage point of Gokyo Ri (5350 m) which includes the sight of 4 majestic mountains – Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu and Makalu along with the Ngozumpa glacier – all in one panorama. The view of the tremendous ice ridge between the Cho Oyu and Gyachung provides a dramatic and spellbinding view.
