This trek also known as the classic trek was used by Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary to make the first successful summit when there was no airport in Lukla. The trail passes through a quiet and isolated route from Jiri through the Lamajura pass in the upper Khumbu region with uninterrupted views of the majestic mountains. The route differs from other treks in the aspect that it traverses many Brahmin, Chhetri and Rai settlements across the Lamajura pass to enter the Sherpa dominated territories. Also the trek provides the view of mountains like Gauri-Shanker, Kwangde, Twache, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and others that may be missed in other trekking routes.
